Description

Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) was a Dutch painter whose intense life and work made him, after his death, one of the most admired and influential artists of modern art. Misunderstood during his lifetime and marked by poverty and mental illness, he devoted himself fully to painting from 1880 onward, producing more than 900 paintings and 1,600 drawings in just one decade. His style evolved rapidly, moving from a somber, realistic palette during his years in Holland to vibrant and emotionally charged compositions in France, influenced by Impressionism but always true to his personal expressiveness. Works such as Sunflowers, The Starry Night, The Potato Eaters , and The Bedroom in Arles are now universal icons. Van Gogh died at the age of 37 in Auvers-sur-Oise, leaving a legacy that forever transformed the history of art.
