Description

A specially edited publication to bring together a selection of the 50 most outstanding pieces from the Third Eye exhibition , presented at Malba between August 26, 2022 and June 30, 2024.

The exhibition "Third Eye: The Costantini Collection" at Malba presented more than 220 fundamental works of Latin American art in a journey that, for the first time, brought the Malba Collection and that of its founder, Eduardo F. Costantini, into dialogue. This publication features 50 iconic works presented in that exhibition, including pieces from the museum's holdings since its founding donation and works from Eduardo F. Costantini's private collection. Presented as a bilingual Spanish-English anthology with a strong visual presence, the book reproduces each of these pieces on a full page, accompanied by brief texts about their creators, their histories, and their significance in the local and international art scene. The works include names such as Antonio Berni, Rafael Barradas, Vicente do Reigo Montero, Frida Kahlo, Víctor Brecheret, Tarsila do Amaral, Xul Solar, Remedios Varo, Alice Rahon, Joaquín Torres García, Diego Rivera, Wifredo Lam, Roberto Matta, and León Ferrari, among other great Latin American masters.

In addition to a presentation by Eduardo Costantini and the essay Habitar y transformar by María Amalia García, chief curator of Malba, the book includes an illustrated and exhaustive list of the more than 220 works exhibited in Tercer ojo grouped according to the thematic cores that organized the exhibition's route.
