Description
Catalogue of the exhibition Corresponding Ideas, 1964–1984, presented at Malba between December 12, 2025 and February 16, 2026.
A key figure in Argentine and Latin American art, Margarita Paksa (Buenos Aires, 1932–2020) belonged to the generation of artists who embodied the transformation art underwent in the 1960s, in the face of a globalized world. "Corresponding Ideas, 1964–1984" reviews two decades of this prolific artist's work, bringing together more than sixty graphic and object-based pieces, installations, and project documentation.
This publication includes essays by the exhibition curator, Nancy Rojas, and Daniel Quiles, professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago , as well as writings and projects by Margarita Paksa herself. This book seeks to contribute to the study of the artist's work as a pioneer in the development of political conceptualism and multimedia arts in Latin America. Given the lack of recent publications on the artist and her limited presence in international exhibitions, the project aims to present a renewed interpretation of her work. It proposes to delve into the first decades of Paksa's production, examining her influence on the incorporation of new technologies, her relational and social approaches, and the performative dimension of her works, which can now be revisited through a sexual and gender lens.
