Mental Landscape is the first monograph by visual artist Mariana Sissia, tracing her work from 2009 to 2015. It presents her sustained work with a single material, graphite, reaching rarely explored levels of depth. The drawings unfold a journey from figuration with narrative aspirations to sensitive abstraction. Drawing is a meditative exercise, evidence of a sustained mental state. Two texts, one by Argentine artist Eduardo Stupía and the other by Nova Benway of the Drawing Center in New York, accompany this thoughtful publication.
