Description
Art Nouveau was a multifaceted phenomenon. From approximately 1890 to 1910, artists developed diverse design styles, ranging from the plant forms of Franco-Belgian Art Nouveau to the ornate designs of the Vienna Secession. All of them sought a new, modern style and pursued a comprehensive renewal of art. In some countries, Art Nouveau also fostered a reflection on national identity.
