Description
This catalogue accompanied the exhibition honoring Oliverio Girondo on the 40th anniversary of his death. It was published by the Xul Solar Museum in collaboration with Malba specifically for this occasion, joining other tributes to the Argentine writer held during 2007.
This exhibition aims to reveal other facets of Oliverio Girondo that complement the one we are most familiar with. In this sense, the exhibition places special emphasis on his bibliophile side—with the deluxe editions of his books, from Twenty Poems to Be Read on the Tram (1922) to In the Marrow (1954)—his relationship with artists, his own role as a collector, and his connection to the Buenos Aires avant-garde of the 1920s (with an exceptional collection of books in their first editions). His activity as a publisher is also represented through original material, showcasing a partnership between publisher and artists that is virtually unknown today.
Of this catalogue, published to accompany the exhibition-tribute to Oliverio Girondo, 1000 copies have been printed on Gardapat paper: 985 numbered copies and 15 non-commercial copies, accompanied by a sheet with the reproduction of a watercolor by Oliverio Girondo.
The edition was overseen by Patricia M. Artundo and Marius Riveiro Villar.
