Description
In 1913, C.G. Jung began a unique self-experiment he called the "confrontation with his soul" : an engagement with his waking fantasies, which he recorded in a series of notebooks he referred to as the Black Books. These intimate writings shed light on the later development of Jung's personal cosmology and his attempts to incorporate the insights from his self-inquiry into his life and personal relationships. The Red Book made use of material collected between 1913 and 1916, but Jung continued to actively maintain his notebooks for several more decades.
Presented in a magnificent seven-volume boxed collection, which includes an insightful essay by leading scholar Sonu Shamdasani—illuminated with a selection of Jung's vibrant figurative works—and both the facsimile and translation of each notebook, The Black Books offer a unique portal into Jung's mind and the origins of analytical psychology.
