Description

Catalogue of the exhibition Yente Del Prete. Fortunate Life , presented at Malba between March 11 and June 27, 2022.

For more than 50 years, Yente (Eugenia Crenovich, Buenos Aires 1905–1990) and Juan Del Prete (Vasto, Italy, 1897–Buenos Aires, 1987) not only shared their lives as a couple, but also exchanged ideas about art on a daily basis. They held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in various group shows, yet they never exhibited together. This exhibition brings them together for the first time with a selection of more than 150 works, including paintings, sculptures, tapestries, drawings, and artists' books, and spans the broad range of their careers, from the 1930s to the 1980s.

Specially published for the exhibition, the 224-page book includes all the exhibited works alongside a selection of texts in Spanish and English. In addition to the curatorial essay by María Amalia García, the publication features three essays by researchers Gabriel Pérez Barreiro, Ayelén Pagnanelli, and Verónica Rossi, which explore various aspects of the artists' lives and work.
