Description
Catalogue of the exhibition Marcela Sinclair. Public Way , presented at Malba between March 23 and June 26, 2023.
The work of Marcela Sinclair (Buenos Aires, 1968) explores connections between artistic practice and architecture in search of new ways of inhabiting space. Through the intervention of existing buildings and the design of objects, her installations generate shifts in meaning from a critical perspective of the habitual.
The catalogue for the exhibition Public Space is the first publication on her work. Focusing especially on the site-specific installations she conceived for Malba, it gathers the fundamental concerns that underlie her career. Nancy Rojas's curatorial essay explores the meanings of the pieces included in the exhibition—reproduced in gallery views—while historian and curator Aimé Iglesias Lukin's text reviews her earlier works—illustrated with archival images—and highlights her sustained work as a teacher.
